Surmont Energy Ltd is a privately held oilsands company founded in 2011 and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Our philosophy was built on a foundation of integrity, honesty, scientific principle, creative applications and hard work. Using advanced technologies (like SAGD development) and decades of combined experience, our constant goal is the acquisition of proven reserves and the continued successful development of those properties while seeking and capitalizing on new opportunities.
The Surmont lease consists of 19 square miles (50 square kilometres) of contiguous land. We are located 65 kilometres south of Fort McMurray and close to major regional highways, railways, pipelines and other infrastructure. Our property is in the heart of SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage) development and surrounded by major oil companies on all sides.
